Gerald vs. Jordan
This is the major conflict in the book. And it is a conflict on many different levels. On one level you have the very primitive dominate male conflict which grows as Gerald does. Then you have the moral conflict which has Jordan's daughter-Angel, caught in the middle. This conflict begins as a more mental conflict in the beginning turns into a fist fight in the end.
Angel vs. Jordan
This conflict is a very basic one. Jordan who is Angel's father, is raping her. He is also threatening to beat her if she lets anyone know about it.
Monique vs. Jordan
This conflict is not as physically present as the other two in the book. Jordan does strike Monique a couple times but he really dominates her mentally. He makes her feel like she is trapped and cannot tell anyone about their situation without putting her and her children in serious danger. Monique has a tough time coping with it and really just dismisses that there is any conflict at all.
